The Team CLS 26/27 training programme is designed to bring structure, purpose and energy to your indoor training season.
Train Together. Get Stronger. Make the 26/27 Season Count.
A refresh of our core Tuesday and Thursday workout sessions
Built around the popular Tuesday and Thursday Team CLS 'This 'n' That' and 'High 'n' Low' sessions, the 26/27 programme is a fresh approach that keeps everything you know and love from previous CLS training seasons.
In previous years, we have followed longer training phases built around the traditional progression of pre-base, base, build and peak. While that structure provided a strong foundation, the new programme uses shorter, more focused phases (mesocycles) to create a greater sense of variety while maintaining clear progression.
Each phase places greater emphasis on developing a specific energy system or performance quality, allowing riders to focus more clearly on the physiological adaptations being targeted before progressing to the next training block.
The result is a programme that remains structured and progressive, but feels more dynamic, varied and closely focused on developing the fitness qualities that matter most.
What to expect?
The 26/27 programme follows a structured progression, with training focused on the parts of cycling fitness that actually move performance forward.
Across the season, riders will work on aerobic endurance, muscular endurance, threshold power and VO2 max. Different phases put the focus on different areas, so there's a clear reason for what we're doing rather than trying to train everything, all the time.
The early work builds the foundation. Later in the season, the training gets more demanding, with sessions aimed at improving sustainable power, durability and the ability to keep producing good efforts when the intensity starts to bite.
That doesn't mean every session has to be harder than the last.
Training works when you get the balance right. Hard work creates the stimulus, recovery gives the body time to adapt, and consistency is what keeps things moving.
The programme uses variation and progressive overload, but recovery is part of the plan too. The aim isn't to survive one huge session. It's to keep turning up and improving week after week.
Tuesday and Thursday nights will each bring something different to the programme.
Expect sustained endurance, progressive intervals, threshold work, VO2 max efforts, changing power demands and repeated high-intensity work. Some sessions will be about holding power when the legs are already under pressure. Others will test how quickly you can recover before going again.

Who is this programme for?
The programme is designed around the wider community, with different rider categories able to train together while completing workouts appropriate to their level. Our sessions are led by expert beacons which helps keep the sessions inclusive and social.
And that's where Team CLS makes the difference.
Structured training can be hard, but it's easier when you're doing it alongside other riders.. The Tuesday and Thursday sessions combine purposeful training with the motivation, challenge and camaraderie that comes from being part of a team.
Because ultimately, progress is built through consistency.
One session won't transform performance. But a season of structured, progressive training — combined with commitment and consistency — can make a real difference.
So whether your goal is to simply get into a consistent routine, improve endurance, increase FTP, or be better at Zwift racing, the CLS 26/27 Training Programme provides the structure, progression and community to help make the season count.
